From the outset, DJW was engaged as a key partner, collaborating closely with the client, design team, and software producers to contribute to the development of the design for the new exhibition spaces. This combined expertise was instrumental in shaping the overall experience.

One of the improvements made is the newly enhanced Theatre, now featuring an impressive panoramic projection and a powerful audio experience. This immersive presentation introduces the captivating history of the fort, leaving visitors with a lasting impression. In addition, two new exhibitions, namely "History of the Fort" and "The Hidden Fort," have greatly benefited from this initiative.

The "History of the Fort" exhibition offers an audio-visual spectacle, featuring the voice of Lieutenant J.C. Ardagh, the fort's designer. Through his guidance, visitors are taken on a journey exploring the fort's planning and design process. A remarkable 3D mapped animation, projected over a model of the fort, vividly depicts a simulated invasion scenario, bringing to life the potential threats faced by the fort from enemy forces.

"The Hidden Fort" exhibition presents an intriguing video tour within the original Grand Magazine, cleverly transformed into a projection cave. This unique experience allows visitors to virtually explore the fort's tunnels, which are no longer accessible to all. It offers a glimpse into the hidden aspects of the fort's architecture and history, offering a deeper understanding of its secrets.

Overall, the project has revitalised Newhaven Fort, providing an enriched visitor experience through the introduction of captivating exhibitions and immersive technologies.
