DURLSTON CASTLE

Durlston Castle

Durlston Castle is the hub of activities for the whole of the Durlston Country Park, National Nature Reserve and Castle. D J Willrich Ltd integrated the audio visual systems and LED lighting for this new Visitor Centre.

DJW connected in to video feeds from cameras in Bird Hides across the Park to display them in the Visitor Centre. Client Staff use a Preview Monitor to check where the action is before sending feeds through a video and audio matrix to two 20” screens for visitors to watch. And if the birds are feeling shy then they play pre-recorded footage instead.

Durlston is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and a video, audio and lighting show highlights this geology. The show is triggered by a PIR, plays onto a 46” LCD screen and illuminates rocks and fossils as they feature.

A video wall of four 58” screens shows a 15 minute synched video and audio of the Park throughout the seasons.

DJW created a fully flexible Audio Visual Theatre with a remote control to let the Client control a range of video sources, including a TV tuner; hand held and lapel microphones; a projector and electric screen, and sound system.
