STEAM

When STEAM opened in 2000, it celebrated more than 150 years of railway history since Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed and built the Bristol to London line – the Great Western Railway.

STEAM wanted the museum to be much more than a must-see for train aficionados only. DJWillrich Ltd was asked to tell the story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway.

With locomotives and rolling stock on display inside the heart of the former Swindon Railway Works, DJW devised an audio visual system that would complement these amazing artefacts and bring them to life for everybody. This was achieved by providing monitors to display archive footage and stories of ex-railway workers.

DJW provided the audio visual equipment for hands-on exhibits and the opportunity for visitors to drive a steam engine in a simulator.
