CANADIAN WAR MUSEUM

The Canadian War Museum tells of how war has shaped the Canadian people and Canada’s position in the world through objects, art and interactives.
D J Willrich Ltd was asked to do the lighting for the six permanent galleries. This meant illuminating objects from an aircraft carrier deck and tanks to medals and artworks as well as providing atmospheric lighting.
DJW designed, installed and focussed a lighting system that resolves the tensions between visitor needs and conservation when lighting objects and artworks. DJW used lighting to help create different spaces to let visitors appreciate the artefacts and concepts in an appropriate setting.
